Cell Culture Laboratory and Laboratory of Immunology and Salivary Biochemistry

The Cell Culture Laboratory has a dedicated cell culture area with a cleanroom layout that ensures separate, controlled flows of personnel and materials. Research in this laboratory focuses on molecular biology, cell biology and cell morphology in the context of oral diseases and the biocompatibility testing of dental materials.

The Laboratory of Immunology and Salivary Biochemistry analyses parameters involved in the main cellular signalling pathways relevant to oral pathology and to ensuring the biocompatibility of dental materials.

Research areas

Biocompatibility of dental materials

In vitro biocompatibility testing of dental materials produced using different types of digital techniques;

comparative in vitro testing of the effects of dental materials produced using conventional techniques versus the latest and most advanced digital techniques;

investigation of molecular mechanisms in cell types specific to the oral cavity that may ensure the biocompatibility of dental materials

Investigation of cellular signalling pathways involved in the molecular mechanisms of oral diseases
